United Against Malnutrition & Hunger was launched in March 2023 with funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Eleanor Crook Foundation, as a dynamic, single-focus organisation to make a pragmatic, compelling case for UK investment to combat global malnutrition and hunger.
Disproportionate cuts to malnutrition funding have highlighted that current efforts are not enough to ensure this issue has the political profile and understanding required for robust and long-term UK action. Our job is to change this.
Our alliance brings together leaders from business, finance, research institutions, civil society, and the military and diplomatic communities, who are united in alarm at the accelerating global crisis of malnutrition and hunger. We combine our voices to raise the prominence of malnutrition and hunger with UK policymakers and the public, and to champion solutions to end it. We profile the role that British expertise, research, innovation, and resources can play at the heart of a sustainable response to the rise of malnutrition and hunger worldwide.
We build influence and create a continuous drumbeat of initiatives, driving policy thought leadership, amplifying existing community efforts, employing fresh messaging, promoting public understanding and support, and convening senior opinion-shapers and decision-makers from across sectors to ensure the UK renews its leadership in the fight against global malnutrition.
