“United Against Malnutrition and Hunger welcomes the publication of the UK Government's International Development White paper, launched at the Global Food Security Summit yesterday.
“Speaking at the event, the Foreign Secretary rightly stated that access to good nutrition is foundational to achieving international development objectives. From health, education, and gender equality to economic development and security, it will be impossible to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals without increased efforts to tackle the global crisis of malnutrition.
“Today, however, millions of people continue to suffer from acute malnutrition. The level of need in what often seem to be forgotten crises in East Africa, Afghanistan, DRC, Sudan, Yemen, and elsewhere, is immense.
“The scale of the problem emphasises the importance of the Government's focus on this issue. But it also highlights the need for the world to do so much more to mobilise new resources and act to halt this human tragedy.”
