Joanna has 20 years of experience working in international development policy, high-level advocacy, communications and campaigns with a range of international organisations in the UK, Ireland and internationally. She is currently the Interim Deputy Executive for Director, Advocacy, Programmes and Safeguarding at UNICEF UK.

Since 2020, she leads the organisation’s work to ensure the UK Government puts children’s rights at the heart of policy and practice in the UK and around the world. Prior to this, Joanna was Director of External Affairs at ODI leading the institute’s public affairs and communications division. Before joining ODI, Joanna was Head of Policy and Public Affairs at Bond, the UK network for organisations working in international development, leading the policy team and representing the sector at high level dialogues with the UK government, at the UN and with other international organisations and governments.
